 In order to complete this red velvet cake recipe you will need the items and ingredients listed below:
3 round cake pans
Vegetable oil or other non-stick coating for the pans
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 egg white (for added moisture)
2 tablespoons red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Divide the cake batter so that each of the three cake pans has an equal amount of batter. Place the cake filled pans in the oven for about 30 minutes. No red velvet cake recipe would be complete without the cream cheese frosting. To frost the cake, coat the bottom layer with frosting on the top of the cake only.
